MACC celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Marie F. O’Keefe Center for Health Sciences today. Mrs. O’Keefe graduated in 1930 from the lower division of Moberly Junior College.
Her deep appreciation for the nursing profession and the impact of MACC’s Nursing and Health Sciences programs led her to leave a very generous gift that could be used for student scholarships and construction/renovation of our Health Sciences facility.
To date more than $152,000 has been awarded in scholarships to MACC Health Sciences students and $1.1 million was allocated toward the major renovations of the former Career Center. Additional funds remain in the endowment to provide scholarships in perpetuity.
MACC President, Dr. Jeff Lashley stated “What an impact Mrs. O’Keefe’s decision has made for our students. We feel incredibly fortunate that she thought of MACC.”
MACC offers pathways to nursing careers from Certified Nursing Assistant to Registered Nurse, including accelerated programs. Additional Health Science career paths include Medical Laboratory Technician, Surgical Technologist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Behavioral Health Support, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Medication Technician and Phlebotomy training.
