New Traditions Scholarships are awarded to students who are a member of a special population actively pursuing a degree or certificate at MACC. Special populations include single parents, displaced homemakers, dislocated workers, individuals with disabilities, economically disadvantaged, students seeking employment in an occupation traditionally dominated by the opposite gender (non-traditional), or limited English proficiency. This scholarship is valued at $500 per semester and is applied to educational expenses charged at Moberly Area Community College
Displaced Homemaker Fee Waiver Recipients
- Maxime Dereuck– Columbia campus-has been selected to receive the Displaced Homemaker Fee Waiver for the Fall 2024 semester. Maxime is currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education with the dream of operating a Language School in the Columbia area.
- Tanesha Moore- Columbia campus- has been selected to receive the Displaced Homemaker Fee Waiver for the Fall 2024 semester. Tanesha is currently pursuing her Associate Degree Nursing. Tanesha is a great example to her two children of working hard and being dedicated to achieving her dreams.
- Melasia Sorm- Moberly campus-has been selected to receive the Displaced Homemaker Fee Waiver for the Fall 2024 semester. Melasia is currently pursuing the Behavioral Health Support Degree with the goal of helping elementary age children. She is a single mother to a precious little boy who motivates her every day.
MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarships
- Rebecca Calvin-Mexico campus– has been selected to receive the MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarship for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Rebecca is pursuing her Practical Nursing Certificate. Rebecca works while attending our rigorous Practical Nursing program. She is determined and dedicated to becoming an LPN.
- Tomarri Saine-Moberly campus- has been selected to receive the MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarship for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Tomarri is pursuing her Associate of Applied Science- Business Management degree. Her goal is to own her own café in Moberly. Tomarri is setting an amazing example for her two children to continue to chase their dreams.
- J’Quia (Kia) Walker-Columbia campus- has been selected to receive the MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarship for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Kia is pursuing her Practical Nursing Certificate. Before continuing her education with MACC, Kia earned her Bachelors of Science Psychology degree. Her goal is to be able to provide for her family and find a better work/life balance.
- Misty Alexander-Columbia campus-has been selected to receive the MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarship for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Misty is pursuing her Practical Nursing Certificate. Misty always wanted to be a nurse but waited until her children were older. She is chasing her dreams at MACC!
- Caley Jackson- Moberly campus- has been selected to receive the MACC New Traditions Institutional Scholarship for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Caley is pursuing a degree in General Education with the goal of attending a four-year university to study Health Services Administration. In her own words “It has always been important to me to graduate college and show my sone that with hard work and determination you can achieve any goal you set your mind to, even if there are obstacles along the way.” She plans to attend either Columbia College or WGU.
New Traditions Private Scholarships
- Ambur Hendricks-Moberly campus-has been selected to receive the Beta Sigma Phi-Preceptor Laureate Eta for the Fall 2024 semester. Ambur is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Office Technology degree. Ambur is a single parent and works hard to provide for her family. Her goal is to work in the Business field and have a solid foundation and income for her family. Ambur has overcome many challenges that would have deterred others from continuing toward their goals, she has not given up, she will not be thrown off course. Ambur is a fantastic example for her family and others.
- Jean Parker-Moberly campus- has been selected to receive the Beta Sigma Phi-Preceptor Laureate Eta for the Fall 2024 semester. Jean is pursuing General Studies with an emphasis on Business. Jean is a part of Phi Theta Kappa and Astra. Jean has taken on being a primary caregiver for her family. She is focused on completing her degree and being able to provide for her family.
- Benjamin Schaben-Columbia campus- has been selected to receive the Darrell Stuart Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Benjamin is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Business Administration degree. He is working two part-time jobs as well as attending MACC full-time. Benjamin wants to go into the Business or Finance field after graduation.
- Cassidy Crocker-Columbia campus- has been selected to receive the Darrell Stuart Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Cassidy is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Business Administration degree. With this degree she is planning to move up to a higher position at the company where she currently works. Cassidy’s goal is to be an Executive Director or an Accountant for the Housing Authority.
- Trinity Dodson-Moberly campus-has been selected to receive the Missouri Association for Family and Community Education for the Fall 2024 semester. Trinity is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Business Administration. Trinity’s goal is to own her own café/bakery. She is a single parent who works part-time to support her family. Through her goal she is hoping to provide for her family and serve her community.
- Morgan Foster-Moberly campus- has been selected to receive the Missouri Association for Family and Community Education for the Fall 2024 semester. Morgan is pursuing the Associate of Applied Science Behavioral Health Support degree. Morgan’s goal is to help adults that need mental health assistance. She will be graduating in 2025 and entering the workforce. Morgan is passionate about helping others and creating positive relationships with her clients.
- Aimee Harrison- Moberly campus- has been selected to receive the Nita Enochs Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Aimee is pursuing an Associate Degree Nursing. Aimee decided to pursue nursing after raising her son. The day her son graduated from college; Aimee enrolled at MACC. She is focused on being successful in the program and is dedicated to achieving her goal of becoming an RN. In her words “My dream is to become a nurse and help others.”
- Joyce Cameron-Mexico campus-has been selected to receive the Nita Enochs Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Joyce is pursuing the Practical Nursing Certificate. She is a full-time student who travels 17 miles each day to attend class. Joyce’s goal is to be able provide for her family in a career field that is both rewarding and fulfilling.
- Maria Witt-Columbia campus- has been selected to receive the Ruth Lawerance Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Maria is pursuing the Practical Nursing Certificate. Maria served in the Missouri National Guard for 21 years. Her goal is to obtain her LPN certification and continue with MACC’s bridge to ADN program. She is driven and excited to continue pursuing her nursing certification.
- Derek Deener-Mexico campus-has been selected to receive the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2654 Scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Derek is pursuing an Associate of Arts Psychology degree. His goal is to become a therapist. Derek has been in the Emergency Service field for 25 years, is a volunteer firefighter and also worked as a paramedic.
