The MACC Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program had an outstanding year in 2024–2025, exceeding state benchmarks and surpassing enrollment expectations while helping hundreds of students achieve their educational goals.
Between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, the program served 368 students—well above its funded enrollment goal of 330. These students came from across the region, seeking academic support, workforce readiness, and the opportunity to continue their education.
One of the program’s most impressive achievements was its 74.66% Measurable Skill Gain (MSG) rate, a significant indicator of student progress. The state sets a target of 62% for MSG, and last year’s statewide average was 64.46%. For the second year in a row, MACC’s AEL program ranked 3rd in the state, a testament to both the hard work of the students and the dedication of the instructors. MSG is earned when a student improves their scores on the Test of Adult Basic Education through pre- and post-testing or by passing a high school equivalency subtest.
The program also celebrated the success of 110 students earning their High School Equivalency (HSE) during the year. Remarkably, only 3% of students enrolled entered at a 9–12 grade level, underscoring how transformative the program is for learners starting at various stages of educational readiness.
MACC’s AEL program continues to be a pathway to opportunity, empowering adults to gain the skills and credentials they need for brighter futures. Its consistent success reflects the college’s mission of expanding access to education and supporting lifelong learning.
