Lunch and Learn in honor of Women’s History Month

Celebrate Women’s History Month by bring your lunch and joining Professor of History, Kristine Zauke on March 18th at 12:00pm at MACC-Moberly, Main Building Room 246.
Come learn about the huge workplace disaster that occurred on March 25th, 1911 in New York City. The Triangle Shirtwaist fire resulted in mass casualties (85% of them women), but its aftermath did prompt critical changes in building codes and workplace safety standards, and the eventual founding of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
“Triangle Fire”, part of the American Experience documentary series by PBS, will be featured. It explores life in the sweatshops of the garment industry at the time, the fire itself, and the cultural and legislative changes that happened in the aftermath of the tragedy.
