Joe Bussell
Artist Statement:
Joe Bussell (1955, Topeka, KS) is an artist who works in a variety of media. With a conceptual approach, he creates personal works by means of rules and omissions.
His artworks respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences fro the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. By choosing mainly formal solutions, he tries to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations.
His work doesn’t reference recognizable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. By applying abstraction, he tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way. He likes to involve the viewer in a a way that is sometimes physical and believe in the idea of function following form in a work.
His works are based on formal associations which open a poetic vein. Multilayered images arise in which the fragility and instability of our seemingly certain reality is questioned. Joe Bussell currently live and works in Rosedale, Kansas.

Fred Trease
Artist Statement:
My education has been as a biologist and a sociologist. The majority of my career has been spent in the practice of environmental public health. Whether I was making double exposures with a Brownie as a boy, photographing chromosomes and cells in college or documenting environmental conditions professionally, photography has always been a part of my life.
In 2006 I began exploring the medium as an artistic outlet. For me a photograph is not a static entity, it takes a moment and allows it to be preserved for later contemplation. My images are extracted from daily life and after spending time in my head they eventually become photographs. My work has been shown in a variety of local, regional and national exhibitions.
