Stacey O’Neal, Practical Nursing Coordinator at MACC-Mexico, has been honored with the esteemed Parrish Award for her outstanding contributions to classroom teaching, student support, and community service. This accolade is particularly special as it is awarded by MACC students themselves, who nominate and select the recipient based on their exemplary qualities.
Michelle Frey, Dean of Health Sciences, commended O’Neal’s dedication, stating, “There is so much to say about Stacey. She came to us in fall of 2021 with no teaching experience and took over the reins in Mexico. She has turned the PN program around both in pass rates which are now 100% to increasing enrollment. Stacey has high expectations of her nursing students, but also works with them to help them reach that goal of being a safe and competent nurse.”
O’Neal’s dedication and commitment to the profession have not gone unnoticed, with her transformative leadership leading to a marked improvement in the Practical Nursing program at MACC-Mexico. Her impact on both student success and program growth truly embodies the spirit of the Parrish Award.
The surprise announcement was made in front of the current MACC-Mexico Practical Nursing cohort. Stacey was presented with a certificate and a cash award by Dean Frey and nominating student, Clayton White.
