The public, along with faculty, staff, and students, are invited to attend a special Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
This event will recount the history, significance, and legacy of Juneteenth through music, storytelling, and historical readings.
Featured presentations include a performance by the Historic Second Baptist Church of Columbia Gospel Choir, a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, and a reading of General Order No. 3—the order that informed enslaved people in Texas of their freedom in 1865.
The program will also feature Professor and storyteller extraordinaire Kristine Zauke, who will present The History and Significance of Juneteenth.
The event will be held in person at MACC- Columbia with a live Zoom feed available in the Jorgenson Fine Arts Gallery at MACC- Moberly.
Attendees are encouraged to come together to commemorate this important chapter in American history.
