Moberly Area Community College (MACC) today announced a gift of approximately $4,000,000 from the Harold J. Robertson and Laura J. Robertson Living Trust for the benefit of MACC.
This transformational gift represents one of the most significant private contributions in MACC’s history and reflects a deep commitment to expanding educational opportunity in the region. “We are incredibly grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity,” said Dr. Todd Martin, President of MACC. “A gift of this magnitude will have a lasting impact on our ability to serve students and strengthen programming and resources at the Hannibal campus. While we are still evaluating how best to steward these funds, we are committed to ensuring they align with our mission and create meaningful, long-term benefits.”
The MACC Foundation also emphasized the importance of the bequest in advancing the College’s vision.
“This gift is both inspiring and humbling,” said Susanna Freeman, Director of the MACC Foundation. “It reflects a profound belief in the power of education and in MACC’s role in transforming lives. We will approach the use of these funds with great care and intentionality to honor the Robertsons’ legacy.”
The Hannibal campus has long played a vital role in providing accessible, high-quality education and workforce training to Northeast Missouri. This bequest further strengthens MACC’s ability to adapt to evolving student and community needs.
“As we look to the future, this gift allows us to think strategically and creatively about how we can enhance opportunities for our students,” said Wendy Johnson, Director of MACC-Hannibal. “We are deeply appreciative and excited about the possibilities this support represents.”
Additional details regarding the impact of the bequest will be shared as plans are finalized.
Harold Robertson, a WWII veteran and engineer, passed away in 2019 at the age of 93, and Laura passed away on March 12 at the age of 101. The Robertsons both grew up in Hannibal and
returned in retirement. Their generous donations in the Hannibal area are a testament to the town they loved.
