July is Disability Pride Month, a celebration of the pride felt by individuals with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990. It was on this day that the first Disability Pride Day was held and it has evolved into a month-long celebration.
July is recognized as a celebration of heritage, disability culture, and the achievement of people with disabilities. Celebrating Disability Pride Month provides an opportunity to remove the stigma and recognize the natural part of human diversity, which includes people living with disabilities.
The Disability Pride Flag, by Ann Magill, represents the following:

Black: This field represents the disabled people who have lost their lives due not only to their illness but also to negligence, suicide, and eugenics.
Red: physical disabilities
Yellow: cognitive and intellectual disabilities
White: invisible and undiagnosed disabilities
Blue: mental illness
Green: sensory perception disabilities
Students who experience barriers in their education at MACC, due to a disability, are encouraged to reach out to the Access and ADA Office at any of our campuses.
