MACC: Columbia Higher Ed Center Adopts a Family
In the spirit of the season of giving, MACC's Columbia Higher Education Center adopted a family for Christmas this past season. They contacted the Columbia Voluntary Action Center and asked to be assigned to a family. Their family was a single parent with children, ages 6 and 8. The family gave the MACC Santas their Christmas list and the fun began.
Cash, food and cleaning items began pouring in from faculty and staff. After the wrapping paper and bows settled, there was quite a pile of gifts for the family. A set of pots and pans, paper towels, a queen blanket, two twin blankets, a mixer, silverware, toothpaste & brushes, deodorant, cleaning supplies, camo hunting clothes, skateboard and helmet, two music CD’s, two baseball hats, a back pack, Pokemon cards, boy's coat, dance clothes, kitchen toys, Cd player, two board games, and books were delivered to MACC's adopted family.
“It was a wonderful feeling to have the faculty and staff pull together to help a family have a special Christmas,” said MACC Columbia Higher Education Center Director Amy Frey.
