The Golden Drumstick Challenge Continues
MACC's Main Campus is ramping up a campus-wide food drive for the Randolph County Care and Share which they have creatively called the Golden Drumstick Challenge. The prize at stake is an awe-inspiring, hand-crafted Golden Drumstick. Buildings are competing against each other for the trophy and general bragging rights. They are judged on the number of items donated.
An email address called "turkey talk" which was created specifically for trash talking between buildings has been keeping inboxes full with hilarious jabs, photos and boasts. Employees have written poems, fight songs and jokes about their competitors. The participation has been a heart-warming morale boost during this busy and normally stressful enrollment season. Surprisingly, it's given a unifying common goal for employees to rally behind.
The most important aspect of the Golden Drumstick Challenge is MACC's goal to feed 100 families Christmas dinner. Organizer Shannon Crist said that they are well on their way to achieving this goal. She is impressed and generally proud of the huge heart MACC employees have shown through their grocery and cash donations.
As of Tuesday, December 8 at 4:45 p.m. Shannon reported, "We have 26 turkey certificates donated and at $18 a pop, that is $468. We have $230 cash. So, a GRAND total of $698 towards hams and turkeys.......I am soo excited!!! And, we have 4 more days to go that we are collecting! Go MACC!"
There are just four more days before the cut-off. MACC employees will keep loading tables of food until the last second to ensure Randolph county families are fed this holiday season....and to win that trophy.
