Student Skypes from England at Superintendent's Luncheon
Moberly Area Community College hosted its annual Superintendent's luncheon to show appreciation to the area school district superintendents. The theme of the luncheon centered around MACC's Global Education Program. MACC Director of Academic Services, Meghan Holleran gave a presentation about her recent trip with students to Egypt. She explained that the students saw the Egypt they had dreamed about while touring pyramids, temples and tombs, but also the Egypt they hadn't expected when they encountered much poverty and cultural differences in other areas of the country. A highlight of the event was MACC student Rachel Ostermann, who skyped in from Canterbury, England, to talk to the audience about her experiences as a study abroad student during the fall 2009 semester. Rachel will come home in December and has had a rewarding adventure in Europe learning a new culture and style of college education. She is pictured talking with Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Paula Glover about her experiences.
