Cara Calhoun of Centralia Receives the Tom and Fern Swetnam Scholarship for the MACC-Moberly Practical Nursing Program Cohort
Moberly Area Community College - Moberly announced that Cara Calhoun, Centralia, Mo resident and practical nursing student at MACC-Moberly, was the recipient of the Tom and Fern Swetnam scholarship. This scholarship is for the Moberly PN and A.D.N. programs This award is for $500 and is awarded based on financial need, academic strength, GPA, and clinical performance. It is awarded to one ADN and one PN student. The Tom and Fern Swetnam Memorial Nurse Scholarship was established through a $10,000 bequest from the Estate of Tom and Fern Swetnam for the purpose of educating nurses at Moberly Area Community College. This scholarship provides financial assistance and motivation to students seeking an Associate Degree in Nursing and/ or a Practical Nursing Certificate at Moberly Area Community College. Approximate value is $500 for one semester.

This opportunity will be a great help in furthering my education and career goals.,” said Calhoun. “My goal is to attend the Accelerated Associates Degree in Nursing program here at MACC to become a Registered Nurse. One day I would love to work in Pediatric Endocrinology, and hopefully, make a difference in the nursing world.”
