Moberly Area Community College has awarded the Fall 2020 Thelma Shaw Memorial Scholarship to Practical Nursing student.
Moberly Area Community College announced that Moberly, Missouri resident, Kristen Campbell has been awarded the Fall 2020 Thelma Shaw Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the Practical Nursing Certificate program at the Moberly MACC campus based on the financial need, academic achievement, and character of the applicant.
"The scholarship is substantial and positively affects our student's ability to attend the practical nursing program with an opportunity for further financial assistance if the student chooses to pursue an associate degree through the accelerated associate nursing degree program,” said Michelle Frey, Dean of Health Sciences at MACC. “Ms. Campbell met all the scholarship requirements based on her application and faculty references."
The scholarship fund provides financial assistance to students seeking a Practical Nursing certificate from the MACC Practical Nursing program and continues funding for the student through the Accelerated Associate Degree in Nursing program. The scholarship funds provide 50% of fees, tuition, clinical fees, technology fees, and required textbooks throughout the course of study.
“I have educational and occupational goals for myself, the most important accomplishment I want to achieve is for my children to have the understanding that it is never too late to make the necessary changes in order to become who you have always wanted to be.” Said Campbell. “I have always wanted to be a nurse and I hope I am setting a good example for them. Anything is achievable through hard work and dedication.”
