MACC Trustee Judge James Cooksey Announced as the ACCT Board Chair-Elect and Central Region Director
In an announcement from The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) on October 2nd, Judge James Cooksey was named the ACCT Board Chair-Elect and Central Region Director. Judge Cooksey has served on the Board of Trustees for Moberly Area Community College since April of 2010 and currently serves as President of the Board.
“Judge Cooksey’s election to Chair-Elect means he will serves as Chair of the Association in the 2021-2022 year. His election is a very significant accomplishment and the first time a Trustee from any Missouri Community College has ever been elected to this post. His service on the ACCT Board for the last several years has only strengthened his knowledge of the community college sector and complimented the leadership he provides to Moberly Area Community College,” said Dr. Jeff Lashley, MACC President.
Serving as a Judge for the 14th Judicial Circuit of the State of Missouri for over two decades has enabled Judge Cooksey to provide a unique perspective and strong representation of rural communities. “It is the community college’s challenge in the near and distant future to continue to strive to meet the growing demand for “middle skill” workers as well as continuing the opportunity for students to further pursue their education through our collaborations with four-year schools,” said Cooksey in his appeal to voters.
The Association of Community College Trustees is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond. (ACCT.org)
