Commemorative Greyhound Coins Now Available
The Greyhound Booster Club and the MACC Alumni Association announce the first in a series of Commemorative Greyhound Coins available now for purchase. The coin collection is set to be released over the next four years and is packaged with historical detail about the featured event or personality.
The 2016 Commemorative Greyhound coin features Dr. W.H. "Doc" and Mabel McCormick and pays tribute to their more than forty years of devoted service to the Greyhound athletic program. The McCormick's are known as the "Parents of Greyhound Basketball." Mabel McCormick continues to touch the lives of coaches, players, managers and fans. The coin features the McCormicks on one face with a color, classic Greyhound mascot on the opposite side. The coin folder includes a picture of the couple at their last Hutchinson appearance together and a description of their decades of support.
"Make your purchase soon, as there is a limited number of coins," said MACC Alumni Director Susan Arment. "This is an excellent holiday gift for any loyal Greyhound fan!"
The commemorative coins are $25 each, with profits going to support scholarships and projects for both the Greyhound Booster Club and the MACC Alumni Association. For more information, or to purchase a coin, contact Pat Burke at the MACC Activity Center, at 263-4100, ext. 11505, or Susan Arment with the MACC Alumni Association, at 263-4100, ext. 11550, or any member of either organization.
Moberly Area Community College Greyhound Booster Club president, Stuart Clark, sells the first Commemorative Greyhound coin to Booster club member Murrell DeWeese. The 2016 coin is the first in a series of four coins paying tribute to the tradition of the Greyhound Basketball program.
