MACC Instructor Receives Excellence Award

Moberly Area Community College Professor Jill Mackey recently received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award, which was presented by the Missouri Community College Association at a ceremony in Jefferson City, is given to the top community college teachers in the state each year. The Excellence in Teaching award includes a proclamation from Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.

"In addition to being exemplary in the classroom, Professor Mackey has always been a leader and provided great service to MACC through her work on committees, faculty forum, and now as Chair of the General Education Assessment Panel." MACC President Dr. Jeff Lashley said.

In his nomination of Mackey, MACC Humanities Division Chair Dustin Pascoe said, "Jill has a knack for bringing people together, getting tasks accomplished, and keeping the mission and vision of the College at the forefront."

Mackey has been with MACC since 2004. She teaches at the Moberly campus and online as a full-time Professor of Language and Literature. She is the English Department Coordinator and has played key roles in furthering recent improvements in the developmental writing courses and in the Writing Across the Curriculum initiative. Mackey is also a member of MACC's Retention and Completion Teams.
