MACC Shop for the Arts Set for Saturday, May 4

Have you ever wanted to throw the first pitch...in front of thousands of baseball fans? Or are you just one to sit back and enjoy a live theatre show? No matter where you get your thrills, your chance may be coming during the 2013 Moberly Area Community College (MACC) Shop for the Arts—it's time to go shopping for a cause!

The 2013 Shop for the Arts will take place Saturday, May 4 beginning at 7 a.m. The auction will be broadcast on four Moberly radio stations—KWIX 1230 AM, KRES 104.7 FM, KTCM The Glory 97.3 FM, and The Captain 99.9 FM.

"This is a fun event and it is an opportunity to get some really cool stuff all while helping out a great cause," said Chad Jaecques, MACC director of Alumni Services and Development. "I'm thankful to all of the businesses and individuals who have donated products and services to give the listeners a wide array of auction items."

The complete list of auction items, which includes items such as Carl Edwards' autographed merchandise, a Heritage Hills annual golf pass, and a Kansas City Royals "Throw the First Pitch" Package, is online at www.maccarts.org. New items are added daily.

"I'm very excited that we're offering a historic selection of furniture during the auction," Jaecques commented. "The Stamper library furniture was first installed in 1944. The set has lived a very full life at the College. What stories that couch could tell! This your chance to own a true piece of Moberly history."

The complete set includes leather armchairs, leather high back chairs, a leather couch, tables, desks and accessories. Each piece will be available individually for sale. Examples can be viewed online at www.maccarts.org.

The Endowment of the Arts allows MACC to bring art and artists to its campuses and to the communities and areas in which they are located—Moberly, Columbia, Hannibal, Macon, Edina, and Mexico.

In 2002, the MACC Coliseum was remodeled to provide an updated and expanded space for Graphic Arts & Fine Arts education and presentation. After the new wing's dedication, Dr. Jorgenson introduced MACC's Endowment for the Arts to promote cultural events and artistic projects at the College. These events include traveling exhibits, summer art camps, and much more.

The annual fundraising drive calls on arts patrons and corporations alike to continue and encourage the legacy of the Arts at MACC.
