Greyhounds Announce Two Assistant Coaching Hires

Moberly Area Community College has announced the hiring of two new assistant Men’s Basketball Coaches for the 2012-13 school year. Joining the Greyhounds and Coach Patrick Smith will be Andre Bell and Eric McCrary. Bell will be joining the MACC staff from Trinity Valley Comm. College in Athens, Texas where he assisted Smith the last four seasons. He was also part of Smith’s program as a player at Bemidji State University where he was a three year letterman(2005-08). Bell helped Trinity Valley to a 91-36 record during his tenure and a NJCAA Region XIV regular season championship in 2010-11. He was in charge of Personal Improvement Workouts and game preparation/scouting while assisting Smith with all phases of their defensive system. Before Bemidji State, Bell played Jr. College Basketball at Wilbur Wright Comm. College and he is a resident of Chicago, Illinois.

McCrary is from Belleville, Illinois and played Jr. College Basketball at both Southwestern Illinois Jr. College in Belleville and Mineral Area Comm. College his sophomore season. After a stellar season at Mineral Area, he received a scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University where he played 2008-10. This past season he was an assistant coach at Mineral Area and this summer has been one of the coaches for the St. Louis Eagles famed AAU squad.

“I am so pleased to have Andre and Eric joining our staff at MACC,” commented Smith, “Coach Bell’s enthusiasm and energy for the game and our program is just contagious to our players. He will bring a great work ethic to the table every day in all aspects of coaching. He is just a quality individual who has been instrumental in the signing of 4 key recruits for the Greyhounds next season. I just got to know Eric during the interview process and he came highly recommended by individuals I trust in this business. The more I talked to him, the more I became convinced he was the perfect fit for our staff and brings a perfect match of a player’s perspective plus coaching/recruiting experience to the Greyhounds.”

Smith stated both coaches would begin their positions officially on August 1.
