Make Winter Count with a 3-credit Hour Wintermester Course.

Registration is now open for the 2023 Wintermester Session. The Winter Mini-mester (Wintermester) is a miniature semester that provides students with an additional opportunity, outside of the traditional academic terms, to expeditiously continue their college degree pursuits. All Wintermester sessions are offered asynchronously online, meaning there will be no on-campus instruction. Content and rigor are comparable to regular semesters and requires intensive study and assignment submissions.

Winter 2023 Course Dates: December 18, 2023 – January 12, 2024

Registration now open! The last day to register is December 18, 2023.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Wintermester courses count toward fall enrollment when determining financial aid eligibility. Fall financial aid is disbursed and refunded prior to the start of the Wintermester; this means if a Wintermester course is added after aid has disbursed, the expense must be paid out of pocket.

If financial aid is based on Wintermester course enrollment, and the course is dropped as never attended, the drop could cause serious implications and/or reductions to already disbursed financial aid from the fall semester.

Satisfactory Academic Progress will be determined upon completion of the Wintermester courses.

For questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

When do I pay for my course?

Students will need to pay for the Wintermester course by December 14, 2023, or have financial aid available to cover tuition. Wintermester counts toward fall enrollment for financial aid purposes and calculating full or part-time student status in the fall.

Since the Wintermester is only four weeks, does it cover as much material as a regular session?

Yes, these completely online courses have the content and rigor that are comparable to a regular semester and requires intensive study and assignment submissions. All content that would be covered in a 16-week semester are covered in the Wintermester in a highly concentrated time frame.

Will I be able to communicate with my instructor during the entire Wintermester?

Yes, Wintermester is designed in a fully online format, but you will be able to contact your faculty member by email or through Canvas during the entire four weeks. Some faculty may share a phone number or Zoom access for you to contact them to ask questions. Be sure to read your course syllabus to learn the best way to communicate with your instructor.

Can I enroll for more than one Wintermester course?

There is no limit to the number of courses you may take, however, MACC recommends only one course due to the abbreviated time frame and level of rigor.

Will I have access to MACC computer labs during Wintermester?

The College is closed from December 20, 2023, through January 1, 2024, and there will be no access to computer labs. You will need to have access to a computer and reliable internet during that timeframe. The College opens on January 2, 2023, and computer labs will be available at all campus locations.

I have a very busy holiday planned during December. Should this be a problem?

Students with significant competing time commitments during the Wintermester should not enroll. These courses will be intensive and require dedicated work time each day to successfully complete.

What College services are available during this time?

Computer Services and Instructional Technology will be available during the session. You can contact Computer Services at helpdesk@macc.edu or Instructional Technology at int@macc.edu.

When the College is closed from December 20 through January 1, you can contact Student Affairs at info@macc.edu for assistance. Any other time during the 4-week session, you can contact an advisor by making an appointment or calling (660) 263-4100 ext. 21001.
