The sky is the limit with the talent that come to visit MACC classrooms. One organization the Business Management class studies often because of their unique culture is Southwest Airlines. Herb Kelleher is credited with creating the culture that is Southwest Airlines. His efforts are studied worldwide in colleges and universities.
We were honored to have the HR Manager of Southwest Airlines join our class. Karen Thrasher has two decades worth of experience with this amazing company. Her roots are in Northeast Missouri and has strong ties to MACC.
Southwest is a competitive employment organization. The demand has some positions only being posted for two hours. They’ve encountered a volume of applicants that have crashed servers. This is how many people want to be part of this company. Karen shared her expertise on what students could do at this stage of life to better position them for success down the road. She confirmed that culture is everything when it comes to acquiring and retaining the best employees.
It was a huge honor to have Karen Thrasher from Southwest Airlines. It doesn’t get much better than having the HR Manager from Southwest Airlines talk to the students about what it takes to be successful. It was a time that is appreciated by all and will be used as class content for years to come.
