Commencement Information

Commencement 2023


  • MACC’s Commencement will be held Friday, May 12 at 6:30 pm at the Activity Center on the Moberly Campus.

  • If you completed your degree/certificate program in December of 2022 (FA22) or will complete your degree in May (SP23) or July (SU23) of 2023, you may walk in the Commencement ceremony.

  • There is no charge to participate in Commencement or for your cap, gown, and diploma cover, as well as for many of the honor cords and stoles. See additional Regalia Pickup information below.

  • The Activity Center doors will open at 5:oo pm.

  • The Activity Center is fully accessible to those with physical limitations. Any MACC staff member or security representative can provide assistance if needed.

  • We will have a sign language interpreter on the stage during the ceremony.

If you forgot to apply for graduation:

        • Log into myMACC.edu
        • Select the “Student” tab
        • Select “Graduation”
        • Click on “Graduation Application”
        • Complete and submit the application
 
Any student who applies for graduation will receive an invitation to join the “2023 Graduation” Course in Canvas. This course provides additional details about the Commencement ceremony. If you did not receive an invitation, email Jessica Forrest (jessicaforrest@macc.edu) or call 660-263-4100 extension 11521.
 

Regalia Pick Up

  • Caps are a universal fit, and gowns are fitted by a combination of height, weight, and sex. You will receive honor cords and stoles for specific organizations you participated in while a student at MACC.

  • PTK Members may wear yellow/gold stoles and tassels with their commencement regalia as a symbol of their earned membership in this prestigious organization. Graduates may purchase the PTK Regalia ($10 for a tassel and $26 for the stole) from MACC at the Moberly, Columbia, Hannibal, Mexico, or Kirksville campuses or order directly from the PTK website – PTK Graduation

  • Regalia should be available starting May 4, 2023, for pick up between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm at the MACC Campus you specified in your graduation application. You can expedite the process by calling your local campus in advance the day you wish to pick up your regalia. You will need a photo ID to pick up your regalia.

  • When you pick up your regalia, please TRY ON THE GOWN! If there are any issues with fit or quality, let us know at pick up, email Jessica Forrest (jessicaforrest@macc.edu), or call 660-263-4100 extension 11521.

  • Graduation announcements ($1 each) are available at each campus.

  • Special NOTE: Did you apply for graduation late? Call to make sure we have all of your regalia together before making the trip – 660-263-4100 ext. 1.

Driving Directions to Commencement

From the North

Take Hwy 63 South, when you get to Moberly turn right on EE (Rollins Street). Follow this road all the way through town (one stoplight, 3 stop signs). When you dead end into the College turn left on College Avenue; at next stop sign turn right on Fisk Avenue. Go through one stop sign and make the next right (into college property). Turn left at end of first parking lot and Activity Center will be in front of you.

From the South

Take Hwy 63 North, when you get to Moberly turn left on EE(Rollins Street). Follow this road all the way through town (one stoplight, 3 stop signs). Take Hwy 24 East to the light at Holman Road, turn right on Holman Road. Continue through 2 stop signs. One block past second stop sign (Reed) turn left into back drive into Activity Center. You will see Activity Center on your left before you get to the driveway.

From the East

Take Hwy 24 West past Hwy 63 intersection. At the light at Holman Road turn left onto Holman Road. Continue on this road through 2 stop signs. One block past second stop sign (Reed) turn left into back drive into Activity Center. You will see Activity Center on your left before you get to the driveway.

Missouri CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) Training Classes

This eight-hour course covers and meets all State of Missouri criteria to receive your official Certificate of Qualification.  Topics to be covered are:

  • Principles of handgun safety
  • Basic principles of marksmanship
  • Care and cleaning of concealable firearms
  • Safe storage of firearms at home
  • Demonstrations by the applicant that he/she can safely load/unload the firearm and has demonstrated marksmanship
  • Review of firearms laws
  • Laws pertaining to justifiable use of force
  • Live fire exercises

We will need a minimum of 10 paid applicants for the class to take place.

Remember no personal weapons will be allowed in the classroom or the firing range.  Bring appropriate clothing for the firing range; you will be going to the firing range regardless of the weather.  Bring a lawn chair and drink.  Weapons and ammunition will be provided for you.  Mark Nichols will be the NRA Certified Firearms Instructor for this class.

* Directions from Hwy 63:  take Hwy EE exit (Rollins Street) to the college.  Come around to the back of the college to park in the big parking lot; you will see the Career Center on the right side of the lot.
