MACC Wins Exemplary Practices Award
Moberly Area Community College is a recipient of an Exemplary Practices Award in the Human Resources category. The Community College Business Officers (CCBO) presented this award to Mr. Gary Steffes, MACC Vice President for Finance, at its annual conference for community college business officers.
Mr. Steffes submitted a study entitled "Self Insurance Health Program: From Crisis to Opportunity” which described MACC's adoption of a self-funded group health insurance program in 2001 and the subsequent success of the program. January 1, 2008, is the beginning of its eighth year.
CCBO held its 25th Anniversary at the Annual International Conference, held November 10-13, 2007, in Orlando, FL. Mr. Steffes and Sandra Marek attended from MACC. Ms. Marek is a member of the CCBO board of directors. Mr. Steffes presented at the conference on the topic of his research.
"It is an honor for the college's self-insured health plan to be recognized as exemplary. The success of the program has been achieved through the cooperation and input of faculty and staff, college administration and the Board of Trustees. We hope that the program can continue to evolve and improve in subsequent years,” said Mr. Steffes.
