PHI THETA KAPPA MISSOURI REGIONREGIONAL OFFICER CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIREName of Candidate: Alice ZvacekOffice(s) for which you are campaigning: Vice-President of Communications or Vice-President of Phi DistrictChapter and College Name: Upsilon Xi Chapter, Metropolitan Community College, Maple Woods Campus1. List your educational background, current major, and educational goals. I was in the top 10% of my high school class and in the National Honor Society and many other organizations in high school. I have 58 hours of total college credit, 43 hours from Maple Woods and 15 hours from Park University with a 3.741 GPA. I plan to obtain either a Bachelor of Science in Management Degree or a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree. 2. What is your career objective? I am currently a budget technician with the federal government. I plan to continue an upward career track with the government and would like to have a team-lead position as a program analyst. 3. List and describe your activities in Phi Theta Kappa. I was inducted into our chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in the fall of 2009. I attended monthly meetings, helped to write our Hallmark submissions, participated in service projects and in several of our exploratory projects for the current Honors in Action Topic. I attended the Regional Convention in February 2010. In April 2010, I was elected vice-president of our chapter for the 2010-2011 school year. I attended the Regional Leadership Conference in Sedalia, MO in July 2010. I helped lead our chapter through our Honors in Action Project, our fall homecoming week project and three service opportunities. In December, I became President of our chapter when our President graduated. 4. In what other activities have you been involved? I have been involved in activities outside of college through my church and through 4-H, but at Maple Woods I have focused my energy on Phi Theta Kappa. I do have a wealth of leadership experience in my past including being a an adult leader in 4-H, a Sunday School teacher, and Preschool Sunday School Director. At work I have been a member of our agency's Equal Opportunity Committee and Combined Federal Campaign Committees. 5. Why do you want to become a regional officer? I would like to become a regional officer because I believe that I bring strong leadership, comunication and organizational skills that can benefit our region. I would like to improve networking and communication between officer teams and other members region-wide. I would also like to encourage our region's members to take full advantage of all of the benefits that Phi Theta Kappa offers including programs like the 5-Star Competitive Edge and collegefish.org. 6. Define leadership. I believe that true leadership is the ability to set an example and cast a vision so that others are motivated to reach their goals. 7. What kind of a leader are you? I lead by example (although not perfectly), and I strive to encourage others and to provide them with the resources that they need to empower themselves to take ownership for their own success. 8. What would your friends say is your strongest attribute in dealing with others? I am compassionate and work very hard to find a solution that works for everyone. 9. If you are elected to office, what obligations do you believe you will have to the region? I believe I have the obligation of time not only in travel to meetings but also in performing my duties. I have the obligation to meet deadlines and to be dependable. I have the obligation to fullfill my promises and to help others in our region be better able to communicate with each other. I also have the obligation to set the best example that I can for our region. 10. If elected to office, you will be required to sign the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Code, which states that you will serve the region in a proper fashion. If one of your fellow officers violates the code, what action would you take? I would go to that person and encourage them to go with me to our Regional Coordinator. If they would not, I would discuss the situation with the Regional Coordinator. 11. What can you offer to the Missouri Region and your district? I believe I can offer the Missouri Region and the Phi District strong leadership, comunication and organizational skills. I can also offer my time and my passion that we can experience everything that Phi Theta Kappa can be. |
