WHY BECOME A REGIONAL OFFICER?
Regional Officers are the leaders of their region, working closely with the Regional Coordinator. The role of a regional officer is to:
- Work together as a team to develop goals for the region and formulate a plan to successfully implement those goals.
- Attend all required meetings and conferences and be visible and accessible to the members of the region.
- Communicate with chapters to determine their needs and what you can do for them.
- Work with chapters to help them learn the programs and accomplish their goals.
- Visit each chapter within your district at least once, when invited.
- Monitor progress of region in programs such as pinnacle, five star, etc.
- Work within your home chapter as a chapter member or officer.
- Communicate your progress to the Regional Coordinator.
Benefits of being a regional officer:
- Opportunity to develop and enhance leadership skills by working as a team to set regional goals, plan and run the summer regional leadership conference and conduct general sessions at other regional meetings.
- Opportunities to travel and meet headquarters staff, people in our region and in other regions--networking
- Assistance with expenses related to International conferences:
- International Convention: region pays registration fees for convention and regional officer academy and shared room (with other regional officers) in convention hotel (estimated value $1,285)
- International Honors Institute: some financial assistance
- International Leadership Conference (when held) or travel to headquarters in Jackson, MS: this event is available only to regional officers
- Expenses paid or reimbursed for all regional conferences and required regional officer meetings within the region with coordinator’s approval
