List your educational background, current major, and educational goals. Attended East Central since Fall 09. Currently enrolled in my fourth semester as a Psychology Major. I plan to transfer to a four-year institution and double major in Psychology/Sociology in the fall of 2012 to earn my Bachelors degree. 2. What is your career objective? To obtain licensure from the state of Missouri for Clinical Therapist and work with veterans. While doing that I plan to work on my Masters and specialize in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Rape Trauma Disorder. 3. List and describe your activities in Phi Theta Kappa. I currently serve as vice president of Beta Omicron Phi. I work to keep other members excited about projects. I have been involved in fundraisers, leading our chapter meetings, our HIA project, as well as briefly acted as president while ours was away. I also print and hang signage for our meetings and other chapter activities, as well as plan fundraisers and activities that will bring attention to Phi Theta Kappa on our campus. 4. In what other activities have you been involved? Outside of school and PTK I actively support Red Cross and donate blood regularly. I have recently surpassed the gallon mark for donated blood. I work to collect donations for Goodwill and other local charities. 5. Why do you want to become a regional officer? I believe, as a regional officer, I can actually give back to PTK and help bring more attention and excitement to the office. Also I want to use it as a platform to raise awareness of adult illiteracy and it’s devastating effects on peoples personal lives as well as the financial burden it causes communities. 6. Define leadership. Leadership is the ability to create excitement, motivation, and enthusiasm among fellow members and officers. To get them off their butt and be the best they can be and to make a difference in the process. 7. What kind of a leader are you? Motivational. I try to get people excited about doing things that will help others as well as promote personal growth. I do lead by example and I do not ask others to do anything I will not or cannot do myself. 8. What would your friends say is your strongest attribute in dealing with others? I’m empathetic and always see the other side of the argument. I’m very understanding and a great listener. 9. If you are elected to office, what obligations do you believe you will have to the region? To work with others and promote teamwork. To communicate regularly with other chapters in the district. To do what others expect of me to the best of my ability. 10. If elected to office, you will be required to sign the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Code, which states that you will serve the region in a proper fashion. If one of your fellow officers violates the code, what action would you take? I would report it to the Regional Coordinator. Maybe talk to them about it if it was not a serious infraction and see if it could be corrected. That is if nobody was hurt or put out by that person’s actions. 11. What can you offer to the Missouri Region and your district? Strong leadership, enthusiasm, and fresh ideas……and cookies! |
