Veteran's Day Ceremony at College


Moberly Area Community College will honor area military veterans at aceremony on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 11AM, on the front lawn of the MACC campus. The ceremony will include the presentation of the colors by the Moberly High School JROTC and the National Anthem performed by MACC employee Amy Johns. Violin soloist Connor Haynes, along with Barb Geisendorfer and Danny Owens on violin and guitar, will perform additional patriotic songs.


The event's speaker will be Col. USAF (ret.) Jeff Mikesell, who currently resides in Papillion, NE. Mikesell graduated from MAJC in 1982 and went on to obtain a BS in Natural Science/ General Studies from the University of Missouri, and MS degrees in Aeronautical Science, Military Operational Art & Science, and Strategic Studies.
Mikesell is a proven leader with an outstanding record, with over 27 years of active duty in military and civilian operations and staff experience. He's logged over 4,000 hours of flight time with over 460 combat hours in multiple aircraft, including the B-1B bomber over Afghanistan and Iraq. Through the course of his military and civilian career Mikesell has demonstrated skills in Program Management, Planning, Policy, Strategy, Operations, Training and Education, Requirements, and Budgets. His experience also includes extensive community networking from the United Way and Salvation Army to elementary, high school and community education.

Today, Mikesell is the Senior Military Liaison for the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, where he acts as an interface with national, state, and local business and military leaders to enhance the value and viability of Offutt AFB and other military units in Nebraska.

A special invitation is extended to local veterans associations, as well as active duty military, Guard, or Reserve personnel, to attend the ceremony. Afterward, the Alpha Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honors organization will provide a light brunch in the MACC Auditorium for attending military personnel. The service is open to the public. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will be held in the Auditorium.
