2015 HSE Recognition Ceremony

5/13/15
The Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) department at Moberly Area Community College recently held its 2015 High School Equivalency (HSE) recognition ceremony on May 1, 2015 at the College auditorium. Thirty-one students passed their equivalency test this year.

Ann McCauley, AEL Director, and Dr. Paula Glover, MACC Vice-President of Instruction, presented the graduates with their diplomas. Donna Brown Nerini provided the keynote address. Nerini is an HSE graduate and a current MACC student.

The ceremony included scholarship awards for students continuing their education at the College and a National Adult Education Honor Society induction. Scholarship recipients included Erik Boyles, Tracy Carney, and Nicole Johnson. AEL Honor Society inductees included Anthony Blake, Joshua Clay, Nicole Johnson, Annie McKenney, Bobbi Nejedly, Christina Paterson, Corey Staiger, Sherry White, and Wyatt Williams.

The AEL program at MACC provides a variety of services, including exam tips and tutoring, for adults looking to meet their basic education requirements. The department administers the Missouri High School Equivalency test (formerly GED). The test costs $95, which includes a $60 registration fee for the cost of the test and $7 for each of the five test sections. Students can take the test in sections and may take the test up to three times during a 12-month period.
