Projected Changes to A+ Program in 2015

10/03/2014

The Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) recently announced a projected shortfall in state funding for the A+ Scholarship Program. This announcement will impact A+ Scholarship recipients during the upcoming spring 2015 semester.

The proposed change means that each student's A+ Scholarship Award will be reduced by four credit hours. For example, a student enrolled in fifteen credit hours will only receive the A+ Scholarship for the cost of eleven credit hours. This is only a projection and MDHE will release more specifics by the end of the semester. Click here to see the letter from the MDHE, addressed to A+ Scholarship Students.

While MACC has no control over this decision at the State level, the College is committed to working with each student to answer questions regarding this change. Students are encouraged to attend upcoming informational meetings at each campus location. Dates, times, and locations are listed below:

This reduction will impact students differently based on their unique financial aid circumstance. As enrollment for spring 2015 approaches, it is critical that A+ students have sufficient information to plan their schedules and possibly establish a payment plan. Due to the complexity of calculating each student's A+ Scholarship Award, students should attend one of the meetings, or contact MACC's Financial Aid Office for A+ Scholarship Award value calculations.

MACC remains the affordable option for quality higher education and is committed to helping students achieve their higher education goals. Any questions about the A+ Scholarship Award should be directed to the Financial Aid Office at 660-263-4100, extension 21002, or by email at .
