Plato & the Philosophers to Headline Event Honoring MACC President Evelyn Jorgenson

Moberly Area Community College is pleased to invite community members to join with the Board of Trustees, faculty and staff as they honor Dr. Evelyn E. Jorgenson for 27 years of distinguished service on Saturday, June 15 at the Moberly Municipal Auditorium.

The evening's entertainment features Plato & the Philosophers with Chef Jeff catering a buffet dinner. A cash bar will be available. A reception will begin at 5:45 p.m. with dinner following at 6:30 p.m.

One of Dr. Jorgenson's legacies from her 17-year tenure as president was the establishment of the Endowment for the Arts. In 2002, after the MACC Coliseum was remodeled to provide an updated and expanded space for the Graphic Arts & Fine Arts wing, Dr. Jorgenson introduced the Endowment to promote cultural events and artistic projects at the College. The Endowment allows the College to support visual and performing art and artists at its campuses and in the communities it serves throughout central and northeast Missouri.

Saturday's event includes a fundraiser for the Endowment. Five banks, created by current MACC students, will be displayed around the Municipal Auditorium. Attendees will be invited to place money as a "vote" into their favorite bank. All funds raised will benefit the Endowment for the Arts. The creator of the winning bank design will receive a $250 cash prize and a free 3-hour MACC class.

Tickets are $25 per person and should be purchased by June 7th. For more information or to make reservations, contact Scott McGarvey at 660-263-4100 ext. 11262 or .
