MACC Singers to Present Holiday Concert
The MACC Singers will present a Concert of Holiday Music on Friday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the MACC Auditorium. The choir under the direction of Karen Werner, Associate Professor of Music will feature both familiar and newly composed Holiday music. The choir will be accompanied on piano by Jean Harvey of Keytesville, Missouri.
The choir will begin in the audience performing the familiar Carol of the Bells and continue with the French composer Francis Poulenc's Videntes stellam (When they saw the star, the wise men were greatly delighted). The Ave, Maria Opus 2, No. 2 by Sir Edward Elgar will be performed a cappella.
The choir will perform a rhythmical arrangement by Brant Adams of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Ms. Harvey will be featured on the piano of this joyous selection. She will also accompany the beautiful The Winds of Autumn by John Parker III.
The audience will get to hear a fun short rendition of Deck the Hall arranged by Paul Stuart followed by a reflective arrangement of Bethlehem a traditional shape-note hymn from the American songbook known as 'Southern Harmony'.
The familiar Norman Luboff arrangement of the Austrian carol Still, Still, Still and the John Gardner Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day will delight the audience with their wonderful harmonies.
The choir will conclude their concert with the John Lennon song Imagine. Taylor Isaac will be featured as the sign interpreter for this popular composition. Following the concert there will be a reception of hot spiced cider and Holiday goodies in the MACC Commons.
Tickets for the concert will be sold at the door. Adult tickets are $5.00 and student tickets are $3.00. All MACC faculty, staff, and students are free.
