AEMT’s are advanced life support providers who can administer many of the same pre-hospital skills as an EMT-Paramedic. An AEMT can work a cardiac arrest, trauma, or adult-medical situation, as well as pediatric and obstetric patients. Utilizing more advanced skills than an EMT-Basic, an AEMT can also use medications, start I.V's, and in some states intubate and use I.O.'s.

Job opportunities: The EMT field is growing at an above average rate simply because the aging baby-boomer population is creating a higher demand for emergency medical services. The need will only increase as boomers continue to age. Because of this population shift, patients are demanding higher levels of care before arriving at the hospital. This creates an obvious need for advanced certification such as Advanced EMT.

Coursework follows the National Standard curriculum developed by the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Successful completion of EMT 200 qualifies students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (NREMT-I) examination.

Moberly Area Community College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, and marital or parental status in admissions, programs and activities, and employment.
