MACC Honors Joan Casleton at Retirement Tea
Moberly Area Community College recently honored Board of Trustee Member Joan Casleton with a retirement tea. Ms. Casleton has served on the MACC Board of Trustees since 1992. Her 20 years of service have seen countless changes in the College and unprecedented expansion. During her tenure, she served as Secretary and as President of the Board. MACC presented Ms. Casleton with a personalized, engraved rocking chair at her tea. The event was filled with well-wishes and a few tears.
MACC President, Dr. Evelyn E. Jorgenson commented, "Ms. Casleton has given twenty years of service to Moberly Area Community College as a trustee. She has shown tremendous resolve in times of crisis. She has offered help and suggestions and guidance in more ways than I can count and she has helped guide the College through all the changes of the last twenty years, from building off-campus sites to navigating the role of our College in the Internet age! We will miss her leadership."
Ms. Casleton was born in Illinois and attended South Illinois University-Carbondale. She married the late Sam Casleton in 1965 and spent many years traveling because of Sam’s military service. She has worked in the insurance industry for the last 27 years and currently serves as Risk Manager for Orscheln Management Company.
In the past, Ms. Casleton was a member of Kiwanis and Beta Sigma Phi. She attended the EXCEL Leadership Class III. She is currently a member of League of Women Voters and Stubbins Auxiliary. She enjoys reading, working Sudoku puzzles, and golf.
