Swetnam Scholarship Awarded
Moberly Area Community College recently awarded the Tom and Fern Swetnam Memorial Nurse Scholarship to two students.
Amy Jury, a practical nursing student, from Salisbury was a recipient. She is a mother of two boys. She plans to continue her education and earn her RN and Bachelor of Nursing. She eventually hopes to work in emergency or trauma.
Val Lewis, of Macon, is the Associate Degree Nursing Student recipient. She plans to earn RN and continue on to earn her BSN. She eventually hopes to work in hospice care.
The Tom and Fern Swetnam Memorial Nurse Scholarship was established through a bequest from the Estate of Tom and Fern Swetnam for the purpose of educating nurses at Moberly Area Community College.
The bequest establishes a fund to provide financial assistance and motivation to students seeking an Associate Degree in Nursing and/or a Practical Nursing Certificate at Moberly Area Community College.
The scholarship provides two $500.00 awards per year. One scholarship awarded to an Associate Degree in Nursing student and one scholarship awarded to a Practical Nursing Certificate student.
