Insulin Administration Training

The Insulin Administration training program prepares Certified Medication Technicians (CMT) in a skilled or intermediate care facility or Level 1 Medication Aides (L1MA) in a residential care facility (RCF) or assisted living facility (ACF) to administer insulin. The program is designed to present information on diabetes as it relates to symptoms and implications of proper or improper treatment and to teach skills in insulin administration in order to qualify students to perform this procedure in long term care facilities in Missouri. The curriculum content includes procedures and instruction in the following areas: diabetes and its treatment and complications; types of insulin; techniques of insulin administration; and methods of monitoring blood sugar levels.

Classes are in Moberly at the Entrepreneurship and Business Development Center. The cost for this training is $59 per person. Actual dates for the classes are posted to the right.

Clinical Supervisor Workshop

This specialized one-day workshop is designed to prepare Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to supervise nurse assistant students during their required on-the-job experience in long term care. This workshop is required by the State of Missouri and is approved by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Attendees will receive a Clinical Supervisor Certificate of Attendance, and their names will be put on the Missouri State Registry of Qualified Clinical Supervisors. Requirements are: 1) Must be a registered professional nurse or current licensed practical nurse in the State of Missouri, or have a temporary permit from the Missouri State Board of Nursing with no disciplines against their license. 2) Must have at least one year experience in a long term care facility, if not currently employed by a long term care facility.

Workshops are held in Moberly at the Entrepreneurship and Business Development Center. The cost for this workshop is $99 per person. Actual dates for the start of each workshop are posted to the right.

Certified Nursing Assistant - Challenges

 

In certain instances, as determined by Department of Health and Senior Services, an individual may request to take a CNA challenge exam through DHSS in order to be certified by the state to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. The test consists of both a written and practical exam which must be performed in a licensed skilled nursing facility by an instructor who is licensed through Department of Health and Senior Services.

In order to qualify, the student must first contact Department of Health and Senior Services to determine their eligibility to challenge. If they are approved by DHSS and provide the original of their approval letter to MACC, an exam can be scheduled.

Certified Nursing Assistant Training

 

Moberly Area Community College offers Certified Nursing Assistant training. The Certified Nursing Assistant program prepares individuals for employment in a long-term care facility, as well as work for home health care agencies, hospitals, doctor’s offices, private pay services, and many other employers. The program is designed to teach skills in resident care which will qualify students to perform basic nursing procedures and to assist licensed practical nurses or registered professional nurses in direct resident care. The program cost is $995 per person and consists of 80 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical practice in a long-term care facility. Classroom training can be completed in 20 sessions.

Classes are offered on the main campus in Moberly, the Advanced Technology Center in Mexico, and Hannibal Area Higher Education Center in Hannibal. Actual dates for the start of classes are posted below.
