Diversity Issues in the Workplace and in the Classroom presented by Pat Twaddle
The goal of this professional development presentation is to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the concept of diversity. Participants will gain increased awareness of their own stereotypes and biases and learn how those developed. They will learn strategies on how to recognize and replace their biases with more appropriate attitudes and behaviors. This workshop will explore approaches for removing barriers to encourage greater diversity in the workplace and in the classroom, and further explore ways to prevent and discourage discrimination at MACC. The session will include group activities, individual exercises, and a PowerPoint presentation. Handouts will be provided.

The monthly Board of Trustees meeting and the Board agenda are mysteries to many MACC employees despite the fact that a summary is provided after each meeting. This session will provide information and discussion on topics that become part of the agendas, the role of the Board of Trustees, and the difference between action items and general information items in the monthly Board agenda. ACCT—What We Learned and How It Affects You presented by Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson
The President and several Board of Trustee members will have recently returned from the annual conference of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). This session will be a brief summary of the ACCT conference, a discussion of the relevant issues reported on at the conference and a discussion of the action plans resulting from what was learned. Time for questions/answers will be part of the presentation.
