COMPASS
The COMPASS or ACT test is required by Moberly Area Community College for placement into English and math courses.
COMPASS is an untimed, computerized test that consists of three areas of study: writing, reading, and mathematics. The COMPASS test is given at all MACC campus locations. (Dates and times vary, call the individual site for more information.)
As the COMPASS testing progresses, you may find that some tests will take longer to finish than others. This is because you will be tested at several different levels of knowledge about the subject and the computer program adjusts to your responses. Once you have answered a certain number of questions on one of these levels, you will either be shifted to a more advanced level of questioning or you will be prompted onto the next test depending on the number of correctly answered questions. There is no set number of questions for any test.
Bring $10.00 for the COMPASS test fee. You will be asked to show photo identification at the time of the test. You are allowed to retake the COMPASS. Space for the test fills up quickly. Contact Student Services at 660-263-4100 or 800-MACC-070 (800-622-2070) extension 11270, as soon as possible to reserve your space.
