Don't let a limited budget keep you from participating!

If your Phi Theta Kappa chapter has a limited budget and cannot afford the Satellite Seminar Series, don't give up. Most colleges would be thrilled by the opportunity to host a five-part speaker series, featuring nationally known experts, for only $425 - less than the cost of bringing just one of these speakers to campus individually! So, seek money from your college. Here are some ideas:

* Request a meeting with the Dean of Instruction or Dean of Academic Affairs on your campus, and explain the academic benefits of hosting the Satellite Seminar Series on your campus.

* Present information about the Series to the Director of your college Honors Program.

* Consult with faculty in the history, American studies, social science, sociology, anthropology, and arts departments.

* Share information about this educational opportunity with your college library. The library may wish to purchase tapes to add to their general collection.

* Contact the Student Government Association or Student Assembly. Funds may be available for campus-wide events, concerts, or speakers.

* Speak with the Dean of Admissions or other admissions officer, and propose a "High School Honor Society Day" on campus. Invite area high school honor students to visit your campus, attend a reception in their honor, and then participate in the Honors Satellite Seminar Series. Show them that your college has the academic edge they are looking for!
