Computer Information Technology - Networking

Networks drive the speed of business. The demand for information in the global economy requires consistent and robust network connectivity. Networking professionals provide this ever-increasing need.Moberly Area Community College offers a path to this exciting career focus through our nationally recognized Cisco Academy. In two semesters an individual can prepare to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA) and also be eligible for the widely recognized A+ certification. For those who wish to pursue the full Networking Degree,MACC also offers coursework in Linux Administration and Windows Server Management. Networking graduates are prepared to enter the field or transfer to a four-year institution.

Specific classes in the CIT curriculum are industry approved to allow successful students to sit for: A+, Linux +, and Cisco CCENT and CCNA certification.

Behind every successful business is an administrative assistant, or a team of administrative assistants and other office support personnel who organize the everyday activities to help run an organization smoothly and effi­ciently. Do you enjoy working with people, multiple tasks, data and information, technology, and event coordination all in the same day? With classes at our Moberly and Columbia campuses we can prepare you to be a business office professional.

 

Program Information

The MACC Business O­ffice Administration program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin your career as an administrative o­ffice professional. Furthermore, students are given the opportunity to select 12 credit hours of directed electives providing them the opportunity to tailor their degree to their interests.

Employment Opportunities

As one of the largest employment sectors in the United States, administrative assistants are employed in organizations of every type and held almost 4 million jobs in 2012. Employment of administrative assistants is projected, by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, to grow 12% (about as fast as average for all occupations). The employment of medical administrative office professions, however, is expected to grow at 36% or three times the average for all jobs.

As a reliance on technology continues to expand in the offi­ce setting, job opportunities should be best for those applicants with extensive knowledge of related software applications. Opportunities should also be excellent for those with advanced communication and computer skills. Get your start in this professional career with a degree in Business O­ffice Administration at MACC.

Associate of Applied Science - Early Childhood Education

Early Care and Education (ECE) Professionals nurture, educate, and care for young children from birth to eight. More than three fourths of a child’s brain capacity is developed in the first five years. ECE professionals create the learning opportunities that stimulate children’s physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth to support optimal development. They are a part of new discoveries everyday as children explore their interests, develop their talents and learn the social skills to thrive in our diverse society. If you enjoy interacting with children, helping them explore their world, and discover their potential then a degree in Early Childhood from MACC might be right for you.

Program Information

The MACC Early Childhood Education program prepares graduates to support children and families by providing responsive care and quality education as a teacher/caregiver or director in childcare center, family childcare home, a Head Start, or Early Head Start program. Successful graduates can also be parent educators, enter public schools as a paraprofessional, or continue their education in this field. MACC Early Childhood Education classes are offered in the evening for the convenience of the working student. The Early Childhood Education program also offers a 32 credit hour certificate, a Certificate of Specialization and the Child Development Associate credential.

Employment Opportunities

More than 1.4 million people worked in the childcare profession in 2006 and that number is expected to grow faster than average for all professions in the next decade. Many of these early care and education professionals work for other employers, but about 35% of all workers in this profession have the entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy the benefits of being self-employed. The proportion of children being cared for by parents or relatives is expected to continue to decline, spurring additional demand for early care and education personnel.

As formal Pre-K education becomes more widely accepted and desired, employment opportunities will increase in the field. An associate degree will be the entry-level educational requirement for these positions. Qualified persons interested in this work should have little difficulty finding and keeping employment, and those individuals with college education can typically expect and demand higher earnings. Earnings for self-employed workers vary depending on the number of hours worked, the number and age of the children served and location.
